were

a

few

other

multi-player

card

games

(Parallax's

Poker

was

out

around

the

same

time),

The

Casino

was

the

biggest

and

most

popular.

The

inclusion

of

computer

players

was

one

of

the

first

instances

of

NPCs

in

[

Major

BBS

|gcomm:TheMajorBBS]

add-ons,

and

contributed

to

the

module's

popularity.

Games

that

allowed

single

players

to

play

kept

users

logged

on

to

systems,

and

eventually,

there'd

be

a

group

of

people

on

interacting.

This

grew

a

BBS,

and

grew

a

BBS'

profit.

Information

The

Casino

is

a

multiplayer

game

module

featuring

five

popular

card

games:5

card

stud,

5

card

draw,

7

card

stud,

jacks

or

better,

and

blackjack.

Players

enter

through

the

lounge

where

they

can

talk

with

other

players

and

sip

a

few

drinks

before

heading

for

the

tables.

Casino

employees

are

always

there,

day

or

night,

to

make

sure

the

patrons

are

happy.

There

are

also

a

few

regulars

who

won't

hesitate

to

join

you

at

a

table

for

a

"friendly"

game

of

cards!

Gameplay

The Casino is a text-based

multiuser

game.

It's

in

the

"teleconference-game"

style,

where

anything

a

user

types

that

isn't

a

command

can

be

sent

to

everyone

present,

and

people

can

watch

but

not

play.

Commands

are

issued

on

the

command

line.

Simulated

artificially-intelligent

players

will

challenge

a

user

if

he/she

is

the

only

one

sitting

at

a

table.

Action

commands,

like

SMOKE

and

LAUGH,

add

to

the

atmosphere

of

the

game.

And

Sysop

options,

like

number

of

tables

to

setup,

number

of

players

per

table,

etc,

are

also

available.
