History

Hangman, with CrossCountryCamel, was part of a package of two separate modules marketed together for a very low price for the time. Hangman was based upon a simple hangman routine by Tim Stryker written in late 1987 and polished up for sale by Scott Brinker and Richard Skurnick of Moonshae Telecomm in 1988.

The combo was sold until the Galacticomm acquisition. After that, Hangman resurfaced as part of the Entertainment Edition, having been renamed Hangman's Secret Cove.

Game Information

This is a computerized version of the classic word game, but with an added twist. All players start out with 100 (configurable) "game points" and they make "bets" on if they're going to guess the word correctly. If they guess it, they win double, if they guess all the letters, they get one and a half of their bet, and, of course, if they fail to get the word, they lose all their bet. If a player loses ALL his "game points", he must wait until he re-logs on; he will then be given the starting amount again. A "top ten" list keeps competition going, and even allows for organized tournaments for prizes. The word list is an actual DOS "text file" that is scanned "on the fly". We provide you with an extensive one for starters, but adding more words, or even changing the entire file is simple and trouble-free.

Gameplay

Hangman is a single-player text interface games. A series of menus guide the user to the game sections, and Top Score lists keep the competition interesting.
