The original Galacticomm Teleconference module was a simple real time multi-user chat module that enabled users to send messages to a public or private "channel" (up to 32767), or whisper messages to each other. The early Teleconference modules did not include much else. Moonshae Telecomm saw an opportunity to spruce up the teleconference, and add a lot of entertainment features that would be an attraction on entertainment systems.
The Action Teleconference was so popular that it was acquired by Galacticomm and made into the Entertainment Teleconference in 1989. Galacticomm continued to enhance the product, and added system link-up and the Flash Protocol to it.
This popular replacement of the standard Galacticomm teleconference offers a variety of additions and improvements to entertain your users. Retaining the general structure of the original teleconference, Action Teleconference is easy to use and understand. The "channels" are abandoned, as Action allows each user to have a "private chamber" where he/she can invite specific users (or "invite all"), set a "theme" (topic), or "disinvite" users; users who are not invited (or have been disinvited) cannot join that chamber. Also, users can "forget" (ignore) other annoying users, and will not receive any of their messages, whispers, pages, chat requests, or invitations. Users have a "profile" (default chamber, page on/off/ok, page interval, chamber theme, etc.) which they can customize and save, so the next time they log on, their "profile" will be automatically set. All commands also have shorthand notations for experienced users. In addition, entrance and exit messages when users enter and leave the teleconference can be individually customized by the Sysop and saved in each user's profile; user's accounts will automatically be charged a certain amount (configurable) for this privilege.
Of course, the main feature of Action Teleconference is the Action command system. Normally, anything a user types is broadcast word-for-word; Action allows certain words to be treated as actions. Examples include smiling, laughing, hugging other users, etc. Actions can be added, removed, or modified easily through the message file (no programming required). A special feature also allows actions to be customized for individual users.
