By 1990, a large number of systems, both entertainment and customer support, had grown very large and had attracted a large customer base. In addition, businesses were purchasing The Major BBS as its central office network system. Getting information to large numbers of users at once, and targeting the right users, had become difficult. QuickMail was Galactic Innovations's solution to e-mail mailing list management, both for system operators, and for customers and users of the systems.
After the Galacticomm purchase of Galactic Innovations in December 1990, QuickMail was not sold. QuickMail, therefore, had a very short commercial lifetime.
This enhancement to the electronic mail service of The Major BBS allows messages (and attached files) to be copied automatically to "distribution lists" of users. Each user can have his/her own personal list as well as using lists defined by the Sysop. An added feature allows a message to be copied to all users.
