The Casino is one of those early games that definedĀ The Major BBS. It was one of the first add-ons, and while there were a few other multi-player card games (Parallax's Poker was out around the same time), The Casino was the biggest and most popular. The inclusion of computer players was one of the first instances of NPCs in Major BBS add-ons, and contributed to the module's popularity. Games that allowed single players to play kept users logged on to systems, and eventually, there'd be a group of people on interacting. This grew a BBS, and grew a BBS' profit.
The Casino is a multiplayer game module featuring five popular card games:5 card stud, 5 card draw, 7 card stud, jacks or better, and blackjack. Players enter through the lounge where they can talk with other players and sip a few drinks before heading for the tables. Casino employees are always there, day or night, to make sure the patrons are happy. There are also a few regulars who won't hesitate to join you at a table for a "friendly" game of cards!
The Casino is a text-based multiuser game. It's in the "teleconference-game" style, where anything a user types that isn't a command can be sent to everyone present, and people can watch but not play. Commands are issued on the command line.
Simulated artificially-intelligent players will challenge a user if he/she is the only one sitting at a table. Action commands, like SMOKE and LAUGH, add to the atmosphere of the game. And Sysop options, like number of tables to setup, number of players per table, etc, are also available.
