When Worldgroup was released, it introduced a new method of connection to and interacting with a BBS system - Client/Server mode. This mode, a Visual Basic client with module plug-ins and interfaces on the BBS server side, allowed for full client/server style programs to interface directly with the BBS, rather than forcing users to connect via the ANSI/ASCII terminal mode.
Naturally, developers began to take advantage and provide Client/Server interfaces to their existing products. New products targeted only for this mode were developed. Logicom's Field Goal Challenge was a football kicking game that was only available in Client/Server mode.
Field Goal Challenge is an exciting football game where you score by kicking field goals. You can play yourself or challenge other users. You need WorldGroup to play Field Goal Challenge.
The user has to challenge someone to a game, or play the computer. The challenger always kicks first. For every field goal pick the distance and the hash mark of your kick. All positions on the field have a different score value.
Also, the power of the kick should be considered. You only have 100 units of power to use. If you waste all your power before five kicks, you lose the game.
Finally, the wind plays an important role on your kick. So be sure that when you kick, aim according to the wind direction. And of course, if the ball goes between the posts you score.
Unlike most games, Field Goal Challenge was a client/server game. This meant that the client piece ran on Windows, and the user had to connect to the BBS system using the Worldgroup client.
