h2. History
In the early days, BBSes were difficult to find. And phone lines were expensive; only larger systems had the ability to have multiple localized POPs (points of presence) to help offset regional toll charges. Outlink by [Logicom] (along with [Dial-Out|DialOut] by [Moonshae Telecomm|MoonshaeTelecomm]) enabled operators of larger systems to provide dial-out capability to other systems and services to users, often for a fee.
The module also allowed the Sysop to use his/her investment in phone lines to dial-out to systems from the console. Or, connect other services via serial connection. File transfers were enabled over Outlink, as well.
h2. Module Information
Project that "Big System" image by creating a bridge to other computer or BBS systems! The software driver acts like a transparent host between the user and the other system. Even file transfers can be made through Outlink. You can even use it as a mini-terminal to dial out directly from the console on one of your non-hardware channels. Supports serial links, and it's own built in script file processor.
o Supports "Locks 'N' Keys" for individual menu selections.
o Define which modem, and how many, you want to use for outgoing lines.
o Supports both tone and pulse dialing.
o Supports direct-connect serial port links.
o Special DIAL command allows Sysop to dial any number.
o Script file processing for automated logons and other special requirements.
o Optional credit surcharges.
