Quest For Magic

History
Quest for Magic was the second ever adventure game developed for [The Major BBS] (after [Fazuul]), and the first to originate as an add-on and actually run on systems outside of [Galacticomm]'s demo system. The game was developed by [Scott Brinker] and [Tim Stryker], based upon the [Fazuul] source code. It was the first in a series of games set in the fantasy realm of Peyennuu, watched over by the deity Kyrannalussi, whose name was based upon the [Moonshae Isles/Isles of Shae] BBS user Kyra.
The game was part of the inaugural version of the [Entertainment Edition], but was ultimately pulled in favor of [Fazuul] and Kyrandia in the mid 1990s.
Game Information
The first of the Peyennuu text-adventure games, Quest for Magic is a multi-player fantasy adventure. You will start off as a wandering apprentice of an ancient wizard. Your master has recently died, but he sent you on a Quest with his last dying words. The Quest? To restore the lost magic of the world of Peyennuu. Ever since the evil Duke of Drajorth stole or destroyed most of the known magical incantations, the world of Peyennuu has slowly eroded from a prosperous paradise into a poverty-stricken wasteland... but there is hope. It is believed that the evil Duke hid many of the incantations in his underground fortress. Someone cunning enough... someone brave enough... someone with the true gift of magic might be able to enter the Dungeon of Drajorth and find the ancient incantations of the lost spells. You, with your courage (or foolishness?), have decided to take on this perilous Quest, but be forewarned! No one is really sure what became of the Duke, and he was (and possibly is still) one of great power.
Gameplay
Gameplay within Quest For Magic is fairly typical of text "adventure" games (now more commonly called interactive fiction games) like Zork, Colossal Cave, etc; and MUD games, like Dungeon, Rogue, etc. Players issue simple verb-noun command pairs, such as "north", "get object", "cast spellname", etc. Players can interact with other players in the game, as well.
