History

Robowars II was based upon a BASIC game by Scott Martin and Albert Yarusso. Martin and Yarusso continue to be a game development team, working on a variety of PC games including Deus Ex. Richard Skurnick approached the pair about his coding a version of the game for The Major BBS.

Robowars II was sold by Galacticomm after the Galactic Innovations acquisition through version 6.25 of The Major BBS.

Game Information

Starting out with a small bankroll, your task is to build the ultimate in robots. Start by picking out a shell to build your creation. Then add a power supply, weapon and other little goodies. If your small fund doesn't satisfy your wants and needs, you can enter the casino and partake in some of the games of change, in the quest to build a better robot. If the standard house weapons are lacking, well then build one from scratch to meet your taste.

Now with a fully functional robot, you can start to battle your way to the top. You can select other user opponents or even computer-controlled foes. Do the best you can because while you are away, other users can be involving your robot in battle and you might just return to the system to find that your robot has been ATOMIZED! You can fight a battle to the death or run with your tail between your legs when things look grim. But with each victory your cash supply will increase and maybe along the way you will gain a better weapon. With the spoils of victory you can help yourself to a better weapon or special abilities! Your victories and defeats will be recorded for all to see in your attempt to become the most powerful robot in the universe. This game has no ending, but is a continuing battle for survival!

Gameplay

Robowars II is a single-player game. Users fight their bots against other users' bots (operated by the computer) or against computer controlled bots. The interface is text-based, and all functions are accessed by a series of menus. The combat is turn based, and allows the user to make decisions from in-battle menus at each turn.
