Galactiwars
History
Galactiwars was one of the earliest add-ons for The Major BBS. Developed in 1987 by Don Arnel, it pre-dated even The Major BBS v5.0. It was also one of the most popular add-ons in the early years.
Galactiwars was based upon the BBS door game PoleCon (which stood for POLitical ECONomic simulation) by Demetrius Cross and Stuart Fox. The popularity of Galactiwars led to the creation of War of Worlds by Moonshae Telecomm. Like Coke and Pepsi, both had their followers who swore that their favorite game was the better simulation.
For whatever reason, Galactiwars was not developed or released in the DLL era, since most of the games by v6.0 were multi-player and/or graphics-intensive.
An intergalactic political/economic war simulation that can be played over and over again without ever having the same outcome! As the ruler of your very own planet, it's up to you to see that it prospers, and to set up defenses to ward off attempts at sabotage, espionage, troop invasions, and nuclear missile attacks from enemy aggressors! An exciting and VERY ADDICTIVE game of pure strategy!
Gameplay
Galactiwars is a text-based game. All game actions and activities are accessed through a series of menus. Planets are validated by the Sysop or a game moderator prior to being able to participate.
Galactiwars is turn-based, as well. This means that players are expected to make their moves within the game, and, after a certain amount of players play, the game "turns", and various events and algorithms are applied to the game. Only one player may make their moves within the game at a time.
