History

FAZUUL was, and is, one of the best games of its kind. It also was the first multi-player online interactive adventure game. It was initially developed in February 1984 by [Tim Stryker]; this date predates Galacticomm by nearly a year and a half! It appeared on an early multi-user subscription system called EnterNet (The Entertainment Network) in Florida. It was rewritten as a module for The Major BBS (version 2 or 3) in 1986, and, after a legal issue was resolved, released as an add-on for [The Major BBS] v5.2 in early 1991.

The game was based upon previous designs by Tim Stryker - Fazuul 9001, Freezuul, and Phazuul. It is unclear if they were ever written for The Major BBS, but people have reported playing those versions, which were reportedly very similar. Fazuul, though, was the basis for all other Galacticomm and [Moonshae] adventure games.

Story

The game begins with you, trying to take a vacation to a planet of paradise, only to discover that something went terribly wrong. All of the inhabitants of the planet are gone, and only remnants of alien technology are scattered around. The worst part is, you can't get off! The goal of the game is to escape the planet - using other players and alien technology to do so.

Gameplay

Fazuul's interface is similar to other text adventure and MUD games.
