h2. Background and History
M.B. Murdock & Associates was another of the very early third-party developers for [The Major BBS|gcomm:TheMajorBBS]. The company was headed up by [Mike Murdock|MikeMurdock], and was based in Pinellas Park, Florida. [Murdock|MikeMurdock] developed one of the definitive must-have games for the system -- [Galactic Empire|GalacticEmpire]. The game was a combination of the popular multi-user space shooter [Galactic Raiders|GalacticRaiders], an early MBM title, and the {nl:PolEcon}-based games like [Galactiwars] ([Logicom]) and [War of Worlds|WarOfWorlds] ([Moonshae Telecomm|MoonshaeTelecomm]). MBM also released the [Adventure Writer's Toolkit|AdventureWritersToolkit], the first true game-builder engine/platform for [The Major BBS|gcomm:TheMajorBBS]. MBM's first adventure game, [The Legend of Elyth-Gor|TheLegendOfElythGor], was written with the [Toolkit|AdventureWritersToolkit].

In 1996, as sales of [Worldgroup|gcomm:Worldgroup] software were starting to decline, [Murdock|MikeMurdock] closed the company's doors and began writing Internet related software. In 2002, [Murdock|MikeMurdock] released the game [Galactic Empire|GalacticEmpire] for [The Major BBS|gcomm:TheMajorBBS] 6.25, [Worldgroup|gcomm:Worldgroup] 1, and [Worldgroup|gcomm:Worldgroup] 2 as sourceware under the GPL license.
