History
As each Major BBS system grew, it became more of a chore for the Sysop to manage the system. The default Sysop functions and console with early versions of the BBS were limited. As a result, Moonshae Telecomm developed a package that, as it evolved, added more and more functions and utilities. Hence the name.
After the Galacticomm acquisition, some of these were incorporated directly into The Major BBS baseline package (Global Commands and Remote Sysop Menu).
The Dial-Out function became a separate module.
This module consists of several useful features grouped together into one complete package. It offers the following:
Global Commands
This function allows users to use "carat commands" (^) from anywhere on the system to see who else is online, how much "live" time they have remaining, the list of recent callers, and more. They may also page the Sysop at the main console and send messages to online users.
Enhanced Remote Sysop Menu
Finally, COMPLETE remote control of your system. This feature offers everything in "account", plus much more, including a full DOS interface, "monitor all" mode, view recent Audit Trail messages, searches of user accounts by fields (name, age, sex, last logon date, etc.), detailed system statistics, forced system clean-up, true scramble/unscramble of a user's password, and still more! Cosysop "access levels" can be granted, multiple sysops may be in the menu at once, and the menu is accessed through a global command from anywhere on the system.
Broadcast Message Utility
The original function, along with Page Sysop at main console, in the very first version of the module. This allows users to send public messages to all online channels (similar to FROM SYSOP ones). Of course, a credit charge could be defined for this privilege.
DIAL-OUT Service
With this feature, users can connect with other systems through your system (for a charge, if you wish). Each "number" may be given a name and text description, and if desired, a security password. Connect time to each "number" is monitored and may be referenced by the Sysop. Also, the Enhanced Remote Sysop Menu has an interface that allows those with access to dial any number.
Login Message Function
This option allows a user to leave a private, one-line "login note" for another user. Of course, there is a Sysop definable surcharge.
