Background and History

M.B. Murdock & Associates was another of the very early third-party developers for The Major BBS. The company was headed up by Mike Murdock, and was based in Pinellas Park, Florida. Murdock developed one of the definitive must-have games for the system – Galactic Empire. The game was a combination of the popular multi-user space shooter Galactic Raiders, an early MBM title, and the PolEcon-based games like Galactiwars (Logicom) and War of Worlds (Moonshae Telecomm). MBM also released the Adventure Writer's Toolkit, the first true game-builder engine/platform for The Major BBS. MBM's first adventure game, The Legend of Elyth-Gor, was written with the Toolkit.

In 1996, as sales of Worldgroup software were starting to decline, Murdock closed the company's doors and began writing Internet related software. In 2002, Murdock released the game Galactic Empire for The Major BBS 6.25, Worldgroup 1, and Worldgroup 2 as sourceware under the GPL license.
